Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment technique that has been around for many years and is just now gaining popularity in the midwest. It is not acupuncture as acupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine but does use similar needles. Dry Needling involves inserting a thin, monofilament – meaning non hollow – needle directly into a trigger point or tight and spastic muscle and can have immediate changes due to neurological input from nerves. Dry needling is a highly effective treatment for various soft tissues including muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves as well as inflammatory conditions and can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal complaints.
